JANE'S STORY

“I volunteer because it means a lot to me to be able to give back to the community. It’s rewarding to me to see the changes that can be made by volunteers.”

You could say that being involved with United Way was a family tradition for retiree Jane Cebelak.

Her father supported United Way through his workplace and she followed in his philanthropic footsteps throughout her career as a nurse. With retirement on the horizon, Jane started thinking about how she would use her extra time – she wanted to continue helping people. That’s when she heard about the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, one of the nation’s largest volunteer networks for people 55 and older, administered locally by United Way of Martin County.
